Although Picnik was bought by Google in 2010, it was still available until now. In YWD we used Picnik as a way for clients who don't have Photoshop or other image editing software to still be able to edit images used on their websites.
But Picnik is closing its doors tomorrow, April 19. So we have switched to PicMonkey. It's a neat replacement and allows people to do basically the same things. It is now seamlessly integrated with YWD's Assets Manager.
For instance, let's say you'd like to crop an image that you've uploaded to your website. From YWD's Assets Manager you select the image and then click the big "Edit this image with PicMonkey" YWD will then take you to PicMonkey, which will load your image automatically. From there you can easily crop it (it also lets you resize, rotate, apply a myriad of effects, etc.) Once you're done you simply click PicMonkey's "Save" button and wait a few seconds, after which you'll then be taken back to YWD and the image will be updated there as well.
